Effective strategies to support connection and compassion
Emily Duffy is an integrative therapist working remotely in the UK. She has chronic illnesses and is queer; ambiamorous; and is exploring her neurotype. Many of her clients are also ND, queer, trans, non-monogamous, and/or chronically ill. They come to Emily mostly to work around their identity; how they relate to themselves; and then how they relate to the world around them.
Emily tries to make her space as collaborative and affirming as possible by allowing for individual preferences and needs. She find clients are taken aback by how open she is to them taking their own notes, turning their camera off, or using fidget toys, as they didn’t feel this was allowed in therapy before. Emily offers video, phone, and email sessions through short term and long term work.
